DESCRIPTION:Our speaker in July is Jaime Blake\, who has been the joint head gardener at Bressingham Gardens for many years. Jaime's presentation will be a fascinating tour of 80 plants from around the world that are flourishing in the 17 acre Bressingham Gardens. Jaime will talk about a wide range of plants we can grow in this country and where they originate in the world\, with anecdotes and his experience of growing them at Bressingham. Jaime will describe his choice of plants with reference to a world map\, picking plants from countries ranging from the UK\, France\, Western Europe\, Nepal\, India and even further afield in Asia and China. So come along to hear this fascinating tour of the world of plants from far afield that can be grown in our own gardens in the UK.

DESCRIPTION:Our Autumn Gardening Fayre will be held on Saturday 14th September at the Hempton Memorial Hall\, The Green\, Hempton NR21 7LG. Entries include dahlias\, chrysanthemums and other autumn flowers\, fruit\, vegetables\, flower arrangements\, photography\, craft and homemade produce. There are 54 classes in all. \nWe welcome entries from non members. A schedule is downloadable from our website which not only lists the classes but also the entry requirements and process. \nIf you just want to visit and feast your eyes on the display\, then we are open from 11:30am to 2:00pm. There is a prize raffle\, a 'guess the weight' competition. There will be representatives from the Norfolk Master Composters who are happy to talk about composting and will have examples of equipment. John Shirland\, our Vice Chair\, who has a long career in horticulture will be demonstrating bulb planting. There will also be plants and seeds for sale. \nCountry Markets will be providing refreshments including some homemade cakes and sausage rolls. \nSo why not come along....

SUMMARY:A to Z of Bulbs (& sale of bulbs) - Presentation by Johnny Walkers
DESCRIPTION:Over the years our club has had several speakers who have been multiple Chelsea Flower Show gold medal winners\, but our speaker at November's monthly meeting has won an amazing 29 gold medals at the Chelsea Flower show\, of which the last 25 were consecutive. Johnny Walkers started exhibiting his daffodils at Chelsea in 1986 in order to promote sales for his bulb company 'Walkers Bulbs'. Johnny has been growing\, showing and selling bulbs for most of his career. Johnny was awarded the Peter Barr Memorial Cup by the Royal Horticultural Society in recognition of his outstanding work in connection with daffodils. So come along to hear a world leading expert on bulbs and learn how to grow excellent flowers from bulbs. There will also be bulbs for sale.

DESCRIPTION:We look forward to welcoming Cherry Mullins to give us a talk about Monet's Giverny.  It will be an illustrated talk exploring the life of its famous resident Claude Monet and the effect that this artist had on the landscape\, village and people he loved. \nThis talk is enhanced with colourful slides and stories of the life of Monet and how he came to create one of the most stunning gardens.  Having spent many years conducting guided tours of France\, Cherry will provide an interesting insight into this fascinating character and his beloved Giverny. \n(This talk will take place after our Annual General Meeting - please see separate Events listing if you wish to book tickets for both the pre-AGM buffet and the talk.)

SUMMARY:New and Rare Perennials by Tim Fuller
DESCRIPTION:Our first talk of 2025 will be given by Tim Fuller\, who runs the specialist nursery 'Plantsman Preference' in South Lopham\, Norfolk. Tim established the nursery back in 1996 with his mother Jenny and offers mail order and online sales as well as being open to visitors from spring to autumn. Tim is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society's Floral Trials Panel (since 2008) and Stipa Trial Panel\, which are responsible for recommending plants to the Award of Garden Merit. Tim specialises in rare and new perennials\, which are easy to grow. He will present a talk on these perennials with examples and how to look after them in your own garden. Tim will bring along some plants for sale.
