SUMMARY:Full day Outing to Knebworth House Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Ashill\, Holme Hale & District Garden Club have a full day outing planned to Knebworth House Gardens on Thursday September 11th\, 2025. This event is open to non-members who would be very welcome to join us to visit the 28 acres of formal gardens at Knebworth House. The visit will be on a closed day (not open to public) so almost exclusive visit to the gardens. There is a cafe on site and you can also bring your own picnic. The cost of the trip is £30 pp to cover both the coach fare and entry to the gardens. The coach will leave Holme Hale Pavilion at 9.00am to arrive at the gardens soon after 11am. There is a toilet on the coach. The Coach will leave Knebworth around 4.00pm to arrive back at Holme Hale pavilion around 6.00pm. Free Parking is available on the day at Holme Hale pavilion. See attached poster for more information on the gardens and how to book you places on the outing. Latest booking date is August 28th.

DESCRIPTION:The focus of gardening these days is to use less chemicals\, especially when growing your own fruit and vegetables. However\, what do you do when aphids attack your plants\, snails eat your broccoli or pigeons decide to strip your seedlings. How do you feed your plants effectively without the reliance on chemicals. This talk focuses on using plants and natural fertilisers rather than shop bought products. Annette will talk about how to attract natural predators to your garden\, companion planting and using non chemical forms of pest control. Annette's talk is a practical\, down to earth\, guide rather than a speech about chemical use. So come along and learn how to deal more naturally with garden pests.

So with excellent timing the club has booked commercial seed expert Jason Breed to give a presentation all about seeds. Jason's presentation entitled 'Sow to Grow' will give attendees the inside story on the production\, preparation and storing of seeds and how to get the most success in germination from your seeds. Jason\, who is eastern area manager for Mole Seeds Ltd\, a supplier of seeds to the trade\, will also bring along seeds for sale. So if you are looking to get your garden off to a great start this year this is a meeting not to miss.

SUMMARY:NNHS Coach trip to Alpine Garden Society Early Spring Show and Plant Fair
DESCRIPTION:A repeat visit to the Alpine Garden Society Early Spring Show and Plant Fair at Chelmsford Racecourse.  We've enjoyed it so much for the last couple of years that we have decided to go again! Avanti Coach Travel will be taking us. \nCost of coach travel is £25 for members and affiliated society members\, £35 for non-members.  We will depart from Hethersett Village Hall\, Back Lane\, Hethersett\, Norwich\, NR9 3JJ at 8am and arrive back at around 5pm. \nAlpine Garden Society members get free entry into the show\, non-members pay £8 on the door\, which is in addition to the coach costs and needs to be paid individually on the day.
