SUMMARY:NNHS Talk on Monet's Giverny by Cherry Mullins
DESCRIPTION:We look forward to welcoming Cherry Mullins to give us a talk about Monet's Giverny.  It will be an illustrated talk exploring the life of its famous resident Claude Monet and the effect that this artist had on the landscape\, village and people he loved. \nThis talk is enhanced with colourful slides and stories of the life of Monet and how he came to create one of the most stunning gardens.  Having spent many years conducting guided tours of France\, Cherry will provide an interesting insight into this fascinating character and his beloved Giverny. \n(This talk will take place after our Annual General Meeting - please see separate Events listing if you wish to book tickets for both the pre-AGM buffet and the talk.)

SUMMARY:New and Rare Perennials by Tim Fuller
DESCRIPTION:Our first talk of 2025 will be given by Tim Fuller\, who runs the specialist nursery 'Plantsman Preference' in South Lopham\, Norfolk. Tim established the nursery back in 1996 with his mother Jenny and offers mail order and online sales as well as being open to visitors from spring to autumn. Tim is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society's Floral Trials Panel (since 2008) and Stipa Trial Panel\, which are responsible for recommending plants to the Award of Garden Merit. Tim specialises in rare and new perennials\, which are easy to grow. He will present a talk on these perennials with examples and how to look after them in your own garden. Tim will bring along some plants for sale.

SUMMARY:LAWN CARE
DESCRIPTION:Our February monthly meeting will have horticultural expert Martyn Davey give us a practical and timely talk on how to look after our lawns. Martyn\, formerly senior lecturer at Easton & Otley Horticultural College\, now works as head gardener for Nurtured in Norfolk. As we move into March our lawns will start to come out of hibernation and the grass will begin to grow again. How should we prepare our lawns for the coming season? How do we deal with moss in our lawns? How do we get rid of those bare patches and other tricky lawn problems? Martyn will bring his experience and vast knowledge to advise us on such matters and on how we can make our lawns look in tip-top condition for another year. This will include not only how to mow our lawns but also what products we can use on our lawns to get them in good shape and health in an environmentally sensitive way.

DESCRIPTION:Dereham Flower Club's Open meeting for 2025 will be at Dereham Memorial Hall on Thursday 24 April 2025. \n\nWe have the lovely Nick Grounds\, a NAFAS national demonstrator with his theme of 'Stems and Stuff'. His fabulous style and stories will give our members and guests an evening to remember.\n\n\nIf you'd like to join us\, please give Jane Harding\, our programme Secretary\, a ring on 01362 692711. Pre-booking tickets is essential as tickets on the door are only on a first come first served basis.\n\n\nWe have lots of shopping stalls\, including a plant stall\, and a Bar available.
