Norfolk & Suffolk Hardy Plant Society Visit & Members’ Plant Sale to The Lodge

The Lodge Bury Road, Bradfield St Clare, Bury St Edmunds

Our second garden visit of the year is to The Lodge, near Bury St Edmunds. It also includes our Members' Plant Sale. First 20 members to book by 30th April will pay a subsidised payment of £5. After that, full price is payable. Guests pay full price. Admission £10 (including refreshments) Please email to confirm attendance.

Talk by Kristopher Harper-Allison on Care and Maintenance of Fuchsias.  Kristopher is a holder of a National Plant Collection of Fuchsias.  His talk will cover taking cuttings, pinching and shaping, pests and diseases, over-wintering, and growing media.

The AGS organises many national shows & plant fairs across the UK and Ireland every year. Our shows are a fantastic opportunity to see some of the best-grown alpines in the country. Our plant fairs are attended by specialist nurseries giving you the chance to purchase a diverse range of plants. The East Anglia Show is the 14th show in a series of nineteen that the AGS is holding this year. Nurseries confirmed to attend include Aberconwy, Pottertons and Plantsman's Preference. There will also be a members' plant stall. Entry is free to AGS members and £3.00 for non-members.

President’s Evening at Little Plumstead Walled Garden

The Walled Garden, Little Plumstead Old Hall Road, Little Plumstead, Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom

Members & affiliated society members plus their guests are invited to join our President, Julia Stafford Allen, at Little Plumstead Walled Garden for a social evening with refreshments and an opportunity to view the work completed in the garden.  Julia is the County Organiser  for the National Garden Scheme Norfolk and the Walled Garden is one of the venues that opens for the National Garden Scheme. Arrive from 6pm for a 6.30pm start.  The Walled Garden shop will be open until 7pm for browsing/purchases.  Refreshments will be served from 6.30pm. Booking now closed.

Monthly Meeting – Pruning Through the Seasons

Holme Hale Pavilion School Road, Holme Hale

Our speaker this month is Bob Coutts, retired head gardener of the 12 acre Somerleyton Hall gardens. Bob will be giving a practical demonstration on how to prune your shrubs, roses and trees in your garden throughout the gardening year. Bob will not only tell how to do this pruning, but also the when and why you should prune. The talk will also include the best tools to use for the job. So come along and learn from an expert how to keep your garden in good health all through the year.


How to grow Vegetables for exhibition – Part 2

One of our most experienced members in vegetable growing will talk about and give guidance on growing vegetables for exhibition.  Session open to society members and members of our affiliated societies, free of charge. This is the second of three sessions.  No requirement to attend all sessions - each one will concentrate on action at the actual time of the session. This will take place in the Norwich area, to the west of the city.  Please contact the general secretary if you wish to take part.
